Avebury is a Neolithic henge monument containing three stone circles, around the village of Avebury in Wiltshire, in southwest England. Frances painted ‘Portals’ sitting amongst the exposed roots of the European beech on The Barrows at Avebury. She was inspired to write the following words to accompany the painting.

‘Portals’

Deep within our roots are the earth portals you seek,

Seated on the ground you can feel them beneath your feet,

Close your eyes and feel the pull,

To travel to new worlds, realms, dimensions at will,

For millennia now, we have opened our doors,

Doors into scapes never glimpsed before,Journey now into the unseen,

As if you are travelling another dream,

Never alone, we travel with you through each door,

To make sure you return here once more,

Watching over you as you marvel and exclaim,

At all you see and experience again and again.
